Moved

Recently, and I mean only a couple days ago, we moved to rural southern Louisiana. My scenery for pictures will change, and I think it's for the better. The sudden move has hurt us, for we had to leave our beloved church and some family behind, but God works in mysterious ways. I just have to be patient when it comes to things I cannot see quite yet.

A roaring fire is perfect for the suddenly chilly weather we've received. I'm hoping that spring will come soon, for I am growing weary of the cold fronts. Being a southern girl prompts me to enjoy the warmer weather rather than the sting from the cold.

To the back of our two acres lies a still used railroad. I pray for safety every time I hear the rumbling locomotive simply out of fear. I don't really like being this close to the train tracks, but the sound of the vehicle is a bit soothing.

I hope to go back to posting regularly, since the past few weeks I was packing and didn't have internet. Recipes will be coming back, and I hope to share more of the culture that now surrounds me.

Blackberries

About a week ago, my grandmother wanted to take us to a local blackberry farm. My mother and baby sister couldn't come, but we bought lots of berries.

At this farm we get to pick the berries ourselves. It was a pretty long walk from the entrance, but it was relaxing.
The blackberries were huge, and tasted so sweet. Some of them were tart, but what can you do?

We each carried our own bucket, except for my dad who wanted to help Caleb pick his batch of berries. My grandmother and Josiah were the ones who ended up with the most.

I wasn't completely sure who was more excited, us children or my grandmother. We had a blast, and ended up with ten pounds of berries! My grandmother kept her four pounds she picked, so altogether we had about fourteen pounds.

The day after we went was my little Josiah's birthday, and being the odd person he is, wanted a blackberry cobbler for his cake. Oh, he only wanted it to be made with his bucket of berries.

Sorry I don't have a picture of it cut open, but you can certainly take my word for it. It was amazing!

Sephora

Next week is my birthday. EEEK! I will be turning 16, and I can't wait.
So, on Wednesday, my grandmother took me out to lunch and then Sephora to get some makeup. Since I'm turning 16, I am allowed to wear makeup. Also, I thought that it was good to wait awhile, until I cake my face with all kinds of products.

For lunch we went to Shogun, where they have really good sushi. I wasn't a sushi fan for a long time, but some sushi I really like. We also got some fried rice, miso soup, and these little Japanese dumplings called Gyoza. It was all delicious.

I would have taken more pictures of Sephora, but I was so absorbed in what I was looking at, that I forgot. Oops!
I must have looked around at least an hour, but it could have been like twenty minutes for all I know. My grandmother let me pick out nearly anything I wanted. She is the most awesome grandmother EVER! I am so blessed.

I did not ask for any of this, but my grandmother insisted. I have really enjoyed playing around with all of my new stuff. I have been watching Youtube videos, to learn about all of the good products. I can't wait till I get to wear it when I go out!

Grand-mom's

Sorry for not posting. I was at my Grand-mom's waaaayyyyy down in south Texas.

I love going down there. It has a sense of nostalgia that I feel every time I go there. Maybe it's because her house is over forty years old, and she's been living there the whole time. I don't know.

Sweet old Gatsby, he's about eleven years old. Wherever we explore or walk he is right beside us. You can tell he's getting on in years, he lays down any where.

There is a big field right next to my Grandmother's property. We go and run in it every time we go. We go as far as our legs can carry us.

Her old barn. My dad said that's where they used to raise their chickens. He raised them and brought them to the county fair, and would sell them for quite a lot of money. Now, the barn is just filled with junk, snakes, and probably rats, too. We never go in. You probably couldn't get in any way it's so jam packed with junk.

It was a nice trip. We didn't do too much, but all in all it was rather relaxing...except for the part where I wouldn't go to bed until really late and our trips there and back were rather tiring. Other than that it was good.

Spring

Because we are home schooled, we didn't do our spring break til this week. So, we went to a place near us called Old Town Spring. It is (I think) two streets with refurbished houses made into stores.

There was a toy store that my brothers liked, and later they bought something. It had puppets and toys and toys and toys. It was pretty cool.

There were quite a few vintage stores that looked pretty cool. Boutiques were one of the dominate stores. I went in a couple but didn't really care for too many of them. There was an awesome candy store that we looked at and bought some candy. Sadly, I did not take any pictures of that store.

a really cool vintage bike that I had to take a picture of.

My favorite store we went too was a few blocks away from Old Town Spring. It was a yarn store called Twisted Yarns. It was absolutely overwhelming. I just wanted to buy everything. My mom and I ended up buying each a ball of yarn to make something with.

This is just the sock yarn shelf. There was a LOT more.

Because of the way the yarn was twisted, we had to use a contraption to make it into a ball called a swift. It was pretty cool. I really want one, and yes, you can get one for your house.

It was a tiring day, but it was really fun. Thankfully it is not far away so we can go again sometime.
